Feaster Racing actual started with Whistler Racing. In the late 1960's, Bill "Bump" Whistler and his three sons Gary, Rickie, and Kevin along with his nephew Jim Feaster Sr. attended the races and campaigned a 1964 Malibu. The Malibu ran in C/MP. After the Malibu ran its course it was replaced by a 1967 Camaro. The Camaro ran in B/MP. The Whistler's next race car was an Altered Roadster. All three cars were driven by Gary Whistler. Gary was also the previous owner of the 1966 Chevelle that is currently driven by Jim Feaster Jr.

After attending the races with his Uncle Bump, Jim Feaster Sr. pursued his interest in drag racing and purchased a 1971 Dodge Demon 340 in 1976. This car was his daily driver in high school. Before pulling the car off the street the hot 340 with a four-speed ran in the 11.80's! The car ran in the mid-11's on a 10 inch slick for a while until the small block 340 was swapped for a big block 440 and the four-speed also went way for a 727 Torqueflite. Jim Sr. received help from his brother Joel and his young (at the time) son Jimmy almost every weekend and instilled the love of drag racing into both of them. Some of Jim's career highlights were qualifying for the bracket finals in 1983 from both Quaker City Raceway and Thompson  Drag Raceway and numerous semi and final rounds at all Northeast Ohio tracks. Jim Feaster Sr. left drag racing in 1988 due to illness and pursued his other passion, barefoot waterskiing, but his love for racing was carried on by his son Jim Jr. and his brother Joel.

Even though "Little Jim" Feaster's first year of competitive drag racing was in 2003, he has been around the pits and involved in racing for a long time. As mentioned above, Jim Jr. helped his dad in anyway he could at an early age. In 1997 Jim received his 16th birthday present, a 1966 Chevelle, which he raced with success during the 2003 season. The Chevelle was a daily driver in high school for most of his Junior and Senior years. In the fall of 2004, Jim purchased his current car, a 1984 Camaro, which he has had a good deal of success with. He was been in finals with the car at Quaker City Raceway and Summit Motorsports Park and been an IHRA Bracket Final qualifier.

Joel Feaster had an influential part in Jim Feaster Sr.'s racing career acting as his crew-chief. This of course sparked an interest in drag racing for him. Joel drove a couple different Pro and Street class entries for different individuals over the years. He then purchased a Danny Nelson Racecraft chassis dragster in 2000 which started his own racing career.
